ABOUT ME.

I’m Kate—a creative strategist who gets a thrill out of shaping ideas into stories that actually stick. I’ve always been curious about what makes people care—what earns a double-take, a click, or just a moment of real attention. That curiosity started young (picture handmade flyers for backyard “concerts” with assigned seating) and hasn’t really let up since.

I recently graduated from UNC Chapel Hill, where I studied Business and minored in Music. Throughout college, I jumped into internships in strategy, digital marketing, and copywriting—working everywhere from ad agencies to music companies. No matter the format or the industry, I kept coming back to the same question: how do we make this feel true to the voice, and worth someone’s time?

Now, I help creative teams bring structure to big ideas, find the right words, and make sure the message lands—with a little less glitter glue than I used as a kid, but just as much intention.

My parents tell me I started singing before I could walk. As a toddler, I would wrap my blanket around my neck like a cape, pick up a cooking spoon for a mic, and force my family to watch me sing and dance to “Single Ladies” by Beyoncé in our living room. My family called me “the dancing girl” because I was always dancing around the house and memorizing choreography from music videos. Although I was a shy kid, I always had a knack for entertainment and showed a lotta spunk on stage. It was not until age nine that I decided to go public with performing, igniting a lifelong passion.

While studying business I always looked for ways to flex my creative muscles. Writing has been one of the most consistent outlets for that—whether it’s drafting campaign ideas, journaling, or putting together unique playlists.

Kate’s Picks is where I get to write for fun. It’s part music blog, part open notebook—a place where I share what I’m listening to, what I’m learning, and how it all connects to the real world. Sometimes that means drawing a line between a song lyric and a brand campaign, other times it’s just about sending something good someone’s way. At its core, it’s a space for creative thinking, storytelling, and conversations I think are worth having.
